About Me

I recently completed my Master's degree from the MIT Media Lab, working in John Maeda's (now defunct) Physical Language Workshop.

Before coming to MIT, I worked at Sun Microsystems for five years developing experimental Java technologies and embedded Java Virtual Machines (JVMs). During that time, I gave presentations at Sun's JavaOne conference on the implementation of multitasking JVMs, and applying VM-specific knowledge to improving embedded Java application performance. I also filed patents on systems for emulating diverse Java runtime environments.

I'm currently interested in developing technologies that can harness the social potential of the web for more creative endeavors on the desktop. In particular, my current research is focused on re-purposing the web browser as a "portal" to a more rich content creation space.

My work has been featured in various online and print publications including Create Digital Music, MAKE Magazine, and The Economist.
